Draughts Stratford is a vibrant board game café and bar located in Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park. Opened in May 2025, the venue is spread across two floors, seating up to 150 guests, and features one of London’s largest board game libraries—over 1,000 games spanning party classics to modern strategy hits.
Aura Fire developed a risk-based fire strategy for Draughts’ new Stratford venue, a 410.6sqm board game café and restaurant.
The strategy introduced a simultaneous evacuation with a two-stage fire alarm system. An inclusive evacuation procedure was developed to ensure all the guests, including guests with mobility restrictions, could safely evacuate during an emergency. Emergency lighting and signage are installed throughout the building to facilitate this important purpose.
The building structure is specified to have 60-minute fire resistance, while the kitchen, as a place of special fire hazard, is surrounded by fire-rated walls and fire curtains.
Additionally, measures have been taken to ensure clear access for London Fire Brigade teams if needed to attend the scene.
